How to Fix Tennis Elbow (PERMANENTLY!)

When you’ve got tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis as it’s formally identified, you understand one factor – it hurts and also you’d probably do something you would to cease if. On this video, I’m going to point out you one of the simplest ways to repair tennis elbow ache as soon as and for all by really persevering with to workout fairly than stopping all collectively, which isn’t actually the optimum resolution to any orthopedic inflammatory subject.

After we discuss tennis elbow, we’re speaking in regards to the ache that radiates from a selected spot on the highest aspect or outdoors of the elbow every time we attain to select one thing up or maintain one thing with a palms down grip. This spot is the place most of the extensor tendons of the wrist converge and connect. The problem with this group of muscle mass is that they’re very weak and unable to deal with a major load on their very own, when unsupported by the muscle mass which might be alleged to contribute to creating their job in perform simpler.

The irony is that most of the tennis elbow accidents don’t come from enjoying tennis. The backhand stroke in tennis is the one which requires a forceful extension of the wrist in the meanwhile of placing the ball that powerfully drives it in direction of your opponent. That stated, this isn’t ever going to be as robust because it may very well be if you’re leaving these weaker muscle mass on their very own to provide maximal drive.

Nicely, as is sort of at all times the case, the mechanics which might be out of whack when the tennis stroke goes awry carry over to the fitness center as nicely. The identical issues which might be missing on the court docket can play out within the weight room that result in virtually rapid aggravation of those tendons in weightlifters. Consider, whereas this is called an overuse harm it ought to in all probability be extra correctly termed an overtaxing subject.

This train is sort of at all times the aspect lateral or entrance dumbbell elevate for shoulders. It pains me to say it as a result of that is one among my all time favourite exercises for build up greater center delts and shoulders normally.

When performing a aspect lateral elevate you possibly can both use a weight that’s difficult however attainable to finish 10-12 repetitions, one that’s lighter than what would usually be used right here or one that’s even heavier than standard however depends on physique swing and momentum to get the burden up. I’d argue that the worst weight to make use of right here is the one within the center. It is because it usually instances exceeds the isometric energy capability of the wrist extensors.

As an alternative, as I’ve suggested numerous instances on this channel, selecting the sunshine dumbbells for strict type aspect lateral raises is the one method to go. Incorporating extra depth methods like sluggish movement reps and one and a half reps goes to assist equalize the load and take a weight which may be too mild and create an overload that’s applicable for inflicting muscle progress.

The train that does this higher than another? The kettlebell swing.

That’s proper. The swing means that you can progressively and progressively load the muscle mass which might be being subjected to an excessive amount of remoted load proper now and incorporate the muscle mass which might be alleged to be aiding within the first place.

Begin with a two arm swing (one being the injured arm and the opposite being the wholesome one that may serve to identify the opposite by the preliminary restoration). Carry out units of 30-50 swings at a time with a light-weight to average weight. This must be carried out as 2-3 units two to a few instances per week. As you’ll be able to deal with extra, you possibly can both improve the burden of the kettlebell or shift to a barely lighter kettlebell however maintain it with only one hand fairly than two and carry out the identical motion.

Additionally, you possibly can offset the load by swinging it to 1 aspect fairly than straight down the center. The important thing profit right here is that you just flip the train from a sagittal airplane pushed train right into a transverse airplane train as nicely. It will assist to load up the hips into rotation for added energy recruitment and additional mix every single day perform into the last word calls for of the forearm extensors.

  3. If you've got severe and chronic tennis elbow, it will hurt like hell even years later to lift a jar of pickles – let alone lift a kettlebell. Drugs, acupuncture, and 'raking' the area didn't do crap. My physiotherapist got me to do very similar things to this video – nada. After 8 years of chronic tennis elbow, the only thing that totally healed it was injecting PT-151 daily for 6 weeks. No need for surgery. There's a reason professional athletes heal months faster from injuries than we would – and it's not because of genetics or being in better shape or diet. It's peptides like PT-151 and TB-500 that cause angiogenesis. Kettlebell swings aren't going to cause angiogenesis – which is the only thing that's going to fix bad tennis elbow. If you're suffering from severe and chronic pain due to low blood supply to the connective tissue, get your doc to prescribe this stuff.

I once quit pull ups for 2 years just because I thought that's where the pain came from. So year, I started doing side raises twice a week about 3-6 months ago and there's my cause. Great video Jeff.

  6. Going on 18 months of tennis elbow but it moved to wrist now in forearm mostly… Only thing I'm being told is i probably need to take 2 months off and rehab.

2 yrs later I repeated the process.TRT helps heal along with sleep but without this peptide I would not be lifting at 63.Muscular and vascular I see the looks standing amongst 20-30 yr old scrawny kids.

  8. Good afternoon Jeff – thank you for everything that you do. I am a very fit 59 year old man living in Wales, UK. I know that this video was posted quite a while ago, but you asked for feedback from viewers regarding the efficacy of the kettlebell swings and cheat side lateral raises in treating elbow tendonitis. I am happy to give you mine. About 3 weeks ago, I hurt my right elbow whilst working a job that involved the repetitive emptying of boxes full of domestic waste material into the side lockers of a purpose-built truck. These boxes are often quite heavy and once in the locker, they often need to be flipped over with one hand and emptied. I had been doing the job for about 2 weeks.

All of a sudden one afternoon, I realised that I could barely flex my right elbow. I promptly left the job! I am also a serious student of fingerstyle acoustic guitar and I had noticed twinges of pain in my right elbow for some time – the one used for strumming – but these were mild and infrequent, so I ignored them.

Big panic. I stopped playing the guitar and started worrying about the time it would take to heal etc etc. The first thing I want to tell you is that none of the 'other' websites and channels that I consulted about this problem mentioned that tendonitis can be caused in a single movement – they all seemed to assume that it is a gradual process. You – of course – do mention this in the video and I think it is a significant fact.

So off to Argos to buy 6kg and 8kg kettlebells, although I do own 'regular' dumbells. I did two sets of 30 reps with the 6kg kettlebell yesterday evening and about 18 hours later, the pain has almost gone and I am much happier and optimistic. I know that I still have to be careful and I will be moving through the exercises steadily in the near future, but I have to say that the immediate results have astounded me and I am very, very grateful to you.

Jeff, you are bloody fantastic and it is no surprise to me that you have 13,000,000 subscribers – and counting. Thank you so much. Literally no-one else even mentions these exercises and I would like to wish you the best of luck for the future…..even though you won't need it!

  9. Always led to believe that this problem was caused by over gripping wether racquet sports or occupations causing same stress from grip. I finished up having to wear a type of 'clamp' on my elbow area which enabled me to carry on playing badminton.

  10. Cannot wait to try this. I have been out of the gym two and a half weeks doing all the things you said not too. I was repping 235 on bench and now 185 is tough. My biceps were filling my shirt now I have gap. It is all because of the pain in my elbows. I am going after it this evening. Will post update on recovery.

  11. Got tennis elbow 5 months ago which has been completely killing all my gains and due to excessive resting and not using the arm for a very long period I developed a mild case of golfers elbow on the same arm 🙂, should I go for the kettlebell swings or not? In my case both the injuries are mild but they also wont allow me to workout at the gym

  12. The pain sucks even made doing leg day miserable the one exercise I decided not to do is what your saying helps, wow well tomorrow i know what i will be doing, thanks for the advice

  13. I am a heavy equipment operator. My left elbow is totally tennis elbow'd up due to repetitive movements and possibly due to having wrist issue. I'm gonna try this , however, I can't go heavy with weights as I don't want to mess up my wrist. I assume using lite weights will have the same benefit to helping get over my elbow problem? Or is there something else I can do ?

  14. I have had severe tennis elbow for years, had a cortisone injection and kept going at the gym and it came back couple years later, I asked for exercises to do and they said just strap it. I had a prp injection about 2 months ago and it's a little better but still there. I haven't been to the gym in so long in fear il aggravate it as that's what the doc said. I think I will try this out and will let you know how I go. Thank you

  15. Sad world we live in when a shirtless guy in a gym can give us better treatment then the experts in lab coats! Didn't need a PHD to help us.What a joke. He probably helps more people with these videos than actual doctors. Thank you kind sir you're brilliant Jeff! Another guy that's helped me tremendously in life is Dr. Berg on YouTube he's a very
brilliant man( chiropractor/ nutritionist) when people help one another because of the desire to help and love fellow man, it's way better than the love of money nine times out of 10

  16. Not gonna lie- this guy is always right even when I want him to be wrong because he’s screaming at the camera.

Dude knows his stuff – instantly felt relief from this recommendation and plenty of other videos. I wish this guy lived by me and I’d pay him for personal training in a heart beat.
