  2. It should be very important to note the differences between a barbell good morning, and a smith machine good morning.

    You should 💯 learn the barbell good morning first, and have complete body control, proper hip hinge, core engagement, balance, etc.

    People should learn how to do the exercise as it was intended before learning an altered version of it, like the smith machine good morning.

    Used to deal with impressionable/novice young athletes coming in to our athletic performance gym trying to do exercises that they learned from videos like this, that didn’t provide content between the differences.

    The smith machine can isolate muscles by changing your stance, but it doesn’t help, and can actually weaken, other body parts that are needed to perform the regular version of the exercise. We had young female lax players coming in trying to cable exercises for their glutes that had no application or benefit on the field….because they watched videos that don’t educate well enough but do plenty well to influence.
